James Myrick’s last 4 years

Chris Perguidi [who you’ve probably heard of] posts a blog at the beginning of every year about everything he did in the last year. I plan to do the same starting with this one, but mine will be every 4 years. This is actually kinda my first blog type thing ever. So where do I start? My 24th birthday party [that barely heppened] was the premier of “The Actor Game” which was the first movie I actually tried to make well/good. It’s still one of my favorites, and probably tied with “Chris and James’ Christmas SpectaculR” as the most underappreciated.

Soon after, I worked with [future Wizard Zone members] Alex Hernandez and again my brother Joel on 2 shorts called “The Roxwell Affair” which was a debue film I think Alex can be proud of, and “JAMES DIES AT 11:45” which Joel clevery named after a text document he made and left open on my desktop years before. This was also the origin of the story.

During this time, I was half living in #SanJose with my good friend Sam Consilio, but within months a horrific bloody insident forced Sam out of that house and into the hospital. He recovered quick and officiantly, and weirdly we even laughed about it 2 days later, but he never lived in that house again.

Me and Chris Perguidi had been friends for 8 years and talked about making movies together many times, but at this point we actually decided to materialize something. We came up with a simple short about me getting stuck in a “TREE” We filmed it [filmed it again] and impaciently posted a rough cut onto Chris’ youtube channel. It got a decent amount of views. About the same as the others I had uploaded. We continued the “Chris and James Adventures” series with “Chris and James’ Christmas SpectaculR” “Meet Ivan” and “The Best of Both Worlds” I lived at Chris’ house by this point.

We then tried to up our game by working on bigger, more long term projects. We began production of “The Chris and Erika Show” with Erika Svensson, while having large parties in the Perguidi junkyard on a regular basis. Those were fun times. I got to become friends with alot of #Gilroy people I never really knew because I lived in #MorganHill until 2006 but alot of them already knew of me as the #singer of The Philosophers [I recently made a Philosophers facebook page with all the songs downloadable for free, and a bunch of pictures to look at and everything. You should Like it if The Philosophers ever had an effect on you] Once we did most of the inicial filming for “The Chris and Erika Show” I slowely but surly pieced together episodes, while bouncing around between other side projects and new long term projects.

For many reasons, I eventually decided to reupload all of our movies to a new channel and create a website for them called “The Wizard Zone” The name came from an idea me and [Wizard Zone member] Ian Webb had for a sketch comedy show that we never went through with. I even used the theme song I had already made for it. This inspired the idea to change “The Chris and Erika Show” to “The Lizard Zone”

Since the creation of “The Wizard Zone” we’ve added some great pot boilers to the collection, which include “Chris and James teach you how” and “The Rent: Is Too Damn High! Song. featuring Wesley Willis” We’ve also welcomed Sam Burks into “The Wizard Zone” as a cast member/collaborater. His movie “Balloon Animals” which costars Perguidi, was rereleased as a Wizard Zone video. Sam has since made 2 more loosely connected movies, which are uploaded to his channel youtube.com/DONOCREATION

Sam, Chris and I started filming our first full length movie “The Boys” at about the beggining of 2010 and shortly after, I started brainstorming song ideas for a solo album. I eventually composed the music for my little album, which I decided to call “drive” and did most of the recording and mixing.

We further played off the Lizard Zone/Wizard Zone thing which I’ll call the ‘izard gimmic, by creating LizardsandWizards.org This site is like a magic portal to both #TheLizardZone and #TheWizardZone, for which I also made the banners below.

We filmed “The Boys” pretty consistantly for that whole year, while working on side projects with Mr. Lobo, the host of his nationally broadcasted show “Cinema Insomnia” Chris filmed interviews conducted by Mr. Lobo for his show, and I edited them. We had previously worked with Mr. Lobo when he was interviewed for The Lizard Zone, and on a wrap up video [Chris came up with and I filmed & edited] to a fued between Mr. Lobo and proffesional wrestler Chris Jericho. The fued started when Jericho drunkenly called Lobo names while they co-hosted a showing of a #film that Jericho acted in, and ended with Lobo beating an artificial/real/artifical Chris Jericho at an arm wresting match. Then being hit with a folding chair by a real/artificial/real Chris Jericho.

I also had the pleasure of dating the beautiful/amazing Kirsten Dorenkamp, throughout the whole beginningish middle of 2010 She was prettymuch the only official girlfriend I’ve ever had, and I truely will always cherrish those wonderful times we had together. I hope to be friends with Kirsten forever.

On 9/11/10 I got hit by a car. The guy who hit me dropped me off at the hospital with no contact infortaion. I had a bloody head, elbow scrapes, and a hurt knee. I walked home from the hospital hours later, and went on a date with a gorgeous girl the next day. No big deal. My knee is still kinda messed up, and I never paid the hospital bill. Oh well.

We wrapped up shooting of “The Boys” at about the beginning of the next year. I also finally recorded the vocal tracks for “drive” around this time. Meawhile, I finished a few episodes of The Lizard Zone, before handing it off to Sam, to continue the post production. He eventually finished the last episode of season one. Season 2 is still in early stages of developement. I spent most of 2011 trying to wrap up all the projects we spent all of 2010 producing. This was alot more work than a I was prepared for, considering that we prettymuch filled an hour long tape with footage for every 2 or 3 minute scene of “The Boys” and I was working on “drive” at the same time.

2011 was also the year of the Spiral Beard. One day I was about to film a video I had planned for a while, but half way through shaving it magically accured to me that I could shave my face hair into a 1½ loop spiral! So I waited to film the video until I grew my face back and shaved a spiral onto it. The video was great, but still not viral as I hoped. I called it “Spiral Beard Music Animation” but later changed it to “Spiral Beard Identity” Soon after the first #SpiralBeard video, it was brought to my attention that my beard was very similar to the currently trending monkey tail beard, but mine was better because monkey tail beards are only 1 loop. Anyway, I decided to put a twist on it.. literally?? I eventually managed to upgrade my beard to 3 loops! I have tried, and have yet to find evidence of anyone else ever doing this on Earth. I eventually made a much more illaborate sequel to “Spiral Beard Identity” called “Spiral Beard Supremacy” which to my surprise, wasn’t quite as popular as the first. I promice as the creater of the video that it’s better than the first in every way other than originality, because of course the other one was the original.

Somewhere in the process of upgrading my spiral beard, I spent a few weeks producing a demo for a band called “Side of Blues” I’ve been a family friend of the guitarest Mark, and the rest of the Daniels’ for years. They are great people.

In 2011 I also starred in a couple student films “The Light” which is now finished and uploaded, and “Better than Ghosts” which I generously offered to edit, but was denied. No final cut of “Better than Ghosts” has been completed.

On top of everything else, me and my brother Joel are always writing on the side. Throughout the last half of 2011 Joel, our other brother Kennan, and I came up with a plot outline for a series we’ll hopefully release the first season of by the end of 2012 I wont say too much so it’ll be a surprize, but it’s along the lines of puppetry type stuff.

It’s now the end of the year/beginning of a new year, and unfortunately “drive” nor “The Boys” is finished, but there’s facebook pages for both with previews and stuff on them. You should check those out and Like them.

If you look at the videos on the facebook page for “Arctic Fox” [which is my solo musician name] you’ll see that I’m in the process of making a #music #video for my first #ArcticFox single “Explode” and you are invited to be in it! Join #TheFoxplosion!! You can ignore the submission deadline mentioned in the sparkling spider video. I’ll accept fan footage until either I’m happy with the amount I have, or I’m running out of time to edit the video before the release of the album, which I plan on releasing at the same time as the video.

So basically I guess 2012 will be the wrap up year instead of 2011 which isn’t so bad considering that a year is just a year. At least it’ll be done if/when the world ends on 12/21

Things I wish I would have done:

more sex

learned to play piano
